A storm comes through and leaves the yard under limbs. Storm cleanup and debris removal is the work of getting all of it off the ground and gone. We pick up downed limbs, trunks and brush with the grapple on our excavator. The debris goes into our dump truck and off the property.

Tree debris is the bulk of what a storm leaves. Limbs, tops and whole trunks lie where they fell, and some of it is too heavy to drag by hand. The grapple closes on a trunk and sets it in the truck. Brush and small stuff get raked into piles and loaded the same way.
Where the debris ends up is your call. Most of it leaves in our dump truck. If you want the wood, we stack it on the spot you point to. Burning is the property owner's own call, and the state rule and parish burn bans set what is allowed.
A tree that went over on open ground leaves a root ball and a hole. Our excavator pulls the ball out and the hole gets backfilled. After that the ground gets smoothed back out, which is land grading. Low spots that need more material can take fill dirt hauled in by the load.
Storms here come in more than one shape. On Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020, an EF3 tornado tore through Ouachita Parish. The remnants of Hurricane Laura crossed the same parish that August. Hurricane Delta followed in October 2020.
Morehouse Parish gets its own. The National Weather Service logged a tornado at Gum Ridge in April 2017. Another hit Brodenax in June 2019. In December 2022 an EF3 tornado hit the north side of Farmerville, over in Union Parish.
Ice belongs on the list too. Winter storms were logged across Ouachita, Union and Lincoln parishes in mid February 2021. Ice loads limbs until they snap, and a yard full of hardwoods fills up with broken wood. What all of them leave behind is the same: wood on the ground, and a lot of it to move.
A storm leaves some trees down and some still up. Anything standing, leaning or hung up over a house is not our work. Louisiana requires an arborist license to remove or trim trees for pay, and a licensed arborist does that job.
Anything in the power lines belongs to the utility. Call the power company and stay clear until they have worked the line. After a catastrophe and a declaration of emergency, the state can issue a temporary arborist license. Ask to see a license before anyone cuts on a standing tree.
Once a tree is down and clear of the house, we can load it and haul it off. After a declared storm a parish or a city may run its own curbside debris pickup. What they will take, and where it has to sit, is set by that program. Check with the office before anything gets dragged to the road.
